Issue-4Q08
GULF COAST CUSTOM KNIFEMAKERS INC.
NEWSLETTER

Message from The Editor:

I begin this quarter’s newsletter at the end of the Thanksgiving week. I am reminiscing about a great
week of food and visiting that my family and I were blessed to enjoy. In this time of change and
economic uncertainty it would be easy to forget all of the things that we have to be thankful for. I hope
that all of you can find something to be thankful for during this time and the upcoming Christmas
season. I was on vacation all week, and spent most of my free time working on a forge and  various
tools for the forge. The forge is of the vertical design, based on many ideas from some of our members
and from the internet. With the exception of the burner. Instead of building my burner from plumbing
parts, I purchased a burner from Hybridburners.com. I will keep you posted as to the progress of this
endeavor. It has been a busy couple of months for GCCKs with the various hammer-ins and
demonstrations. The last monthly meeting was slim on participation, however we are hoping the
attendance will pick up. December’s monthly meeting is very important as we will be selecting officers
for the upcoming year. If at all possible please try to attend and cast you vote for the person of your
choice. We are looking forward to a good year in 2009, with many hammer-ins, and hopefully if we are
able to find a desirable location, we will put on a good show. Please come out and support our
organization.

                                     Until Next Time,
                                                                            Jesse

RECENT EVENTS:
* Pecan festival was a success- good participation by the members and much interest by the festival
goers, sometimes 3 to 4 deep at the booth. Plans are to demonstrate again next year.

* Hammer in at Grammy & Pappy’s Knife store-good time by all

* Hammer in at the AG Museum was kind of slow, due to a mis-communication about which weekend
was the Harvest Festival. I was unable to attend, but was told that it was a good time. However the
crowds were small.

* I have not talked to anyone that went to the Gun and knife show, so not much to tell here
* Terrell Picket reported a good time and good crowds at the Crosby Arboretum In Picayune.
